In this lesson, you will learn:
- How to convert your private YouTube channel into a public YouTube channel.
Issue
When attempting to authenticate your YouTube account with #paid, you may receive an error message stating that your account type is private, preventing the connection.
Why This Happens
#paid requires creators to authenticate public YouTube channels to ensure transparency and provide brands with accurate engagement metrics. Private accounts or restricted account types cannot be linked due to YouTube’s API limitations.
How to Fix It
To successfully authenticate your YouTube account with #paid, follow these steps:
1. Check Your YouTube Channel’s Visibility
Your YouTube account must be set to public to connect with #paid. To check and update your settings:
- Go to YouTube Studio (studio.youtube.com).
- Click Settings in the left menu.
- Navigate to Channel > Advanced Settings.
- Scroll to the Channel Visibility section.
- Ensure that your channel is set to Public.
- Click Save if changes were made.
2. Confirm Your YouTube Account Type
- #paid does not support authentication for YouTube accounts under Google Workspace (G Suite for businesses or schools). If your account is managed by an organization, you may need to switch to a personal Google account.
- If your YouTube channel is brand-managed, ensure that you’re signing in with the primary owner’s Google account.
3. Attempt to Re-Authenticate
After updating your account settings:
- Return to the #paid platform.
- Navigate to the YouTube authentication page.
- Click Connect YouTube and follow the authentication prompts.
