Best practices when writing your handraise message
Congratulations!
You have been sent a collaboration opportunity and now it's time to apply! This is your chance to make the brand realize that you are the perfect fit and best voice to spread their message.
What's the best way to do that? The handraise message:
After reviewing countless messages between creators and brands, here is what we've found to be the secret sauce behind a winning message. Make sure to include:
-
Who you are. Give a summary (1-2 sentences) of who you are and what your personal brand is all about.
-
Why you are interested in this campaign (2 sentences). Brands want authentic fits with creators who are passionate. Let them know why you want to be a part of this campaign or why it's important to you. Personal anecdotes are also effective! Be sure to mention if you are a customer of the brand and the extent of that relationship. It is also important to remember: honesty is the best policy–it's okay if you're not a customer, but be sure to mention if you are willing to try their products and why.
-
How you would bring the concept to life (1-2 sentences). You don't need to get too detailed here, but if you have any unique ideas about how you would represent the brand and their message, this is the time to mention it. Be sure to read all of the details inside the opt-in message in case there are specifics that the brand is looking for (ie: testimonial videos etc.).
Handraise Message Example:
"Hey Neutrogena! My name is Tristan and I am a lifestyle creator from Toronto whose platform is all about self-care and living one's best life.
I would really love to be a part of this campaign because skincare is something that I talk a lot about on my platform, and because I actually use Neutrogena's acne-free face wash! When I was a teen I suffered from really bad acne and found that the pink acne wash was super helpful in controlling my skin and making me feel more confident, and I still use it in the summertime!
I would love to let more people know about it, especially since my audience skews young. I could bring this to life by creating a summertime acne skincare video to showcase how I would use the product at nighttime, as well as tips and tricks I've learned to prevent acne. I hope to hear from you!"
Best of luck!
